My bf Adam and I have were together for bout a year. Just under a year. Adam was an amazing basketball player and loved the game. Around February of our senior yr he found out he got into Duke university. Since I've known him all he would talk about was how he wanted to go explore and experience new things. But somehow his mind had changed since he had been with me and said he wasn't gonna go there. He said he was gonna go to school in CA so he could be close to me. And it wasn't like he was go to a UC or CalState he was gonna go to community college like me. And this caused so much tension with us cuz I wasn't going to let him ruin his life over me an I told him I was transferring to Tennessee state soon so we would be driving distance away but he didn't believe me.
I didn't know what to do. His dad who I have only met maybe twice cuz they don't get along calls me and tells me to break up with him cuz its the only way he would leave And he was being a jerk bout it. I Don't wantbto do hthat but I loved Adam so much I was willing to let him go if it meant he would have a better future. I broke up with Adam couple weeks before our anniversary and I tried explaining why but he wouldn't hear me out. He has never said anything hurtful or malicious to me but after I broken up with him he told me to never talk to him again. I called every day yo tell him how sorry I was and I love him. H never responded.
That happened in 2010. To this day he hasn't talked to me since I broke up with him. And it breaks my heart. Last I heard he didn't go to Duke. Hes going to calstate long beach. 15 mins away from me. His dad isbto blame for this and I resent him getting involved. I was willing to make a long distance relationship work And now I lost Adam. I pray everyday That's he'll give me another chance. That's why he's in CA isbso he could he close to me and I believe we have a chance.

I had moved to Ottawa to live with my mom when I was 16. Shortly after my 17th birthday I met this guy "D" who I fell head over heels with, my first true love so to speak. Though we never really branded ourselves as an "item", we did spend a lot of time together and would make out often. We told each other EVERYTHING. This would only last for a few months as my mom announced that we were moving back to Winnipeg. I was devestated, but me and him kept in contact while I was back in Manitoba.

Fast forward four years... I went back to Ottawa to see if we still had anything left from before. We were still close friends and told each other everything, but, he was not ready to commit to me or anyone, I was crushed but wanted him in my life in some capacity even if we were just "friends". Then it happened, some one made up a story about something I did and he believed it. We had a huge fight and he vowed he never wanted to see me again. I went back to Winnipeg again with a broken heart.

Over the next decade I ended up getting married and having a son, but my thoughts would always roam to "D". Sometimes fond memories, sometimes anger, but a huge piece of my heart still belonged to him.

My "husband" turned out to be a chronic cheater and we were in the process of ending our marriage. I had gone online and ended up talking to one of my old friends from Ottawa and the topic of "D" came up and I had mentioned that I missed "D". My friend had to go offline as did I but we ended up online again later that night, this time he brought "D" into our conversation.

"D" and I talked that whole night, and every day since then. We STILL had feelings for each other and I flew out a month later for a visit. It was amazing, we laughed, we talked, we kissed, we made love, and we cuddled.

For seven months we did the long distance thing, then I took the big plunge and moved to Ottawa for the third time, this time it's been four years together, we are in the midst of planning our wedding and our future lives together.

I know that this was not a break up story per say, but I wanted to show that you can break up a few times before getting it right. A break up doesn't always have to be forever.

Let's see. It's December... 6months ago.

I was dating this doucher, and I met someone online. He was, perfect? No, perfect is an under-state-ment. Anywys, we fell in love. We both did, instantly.

God, I'm getting flash backs; we celebrated Fourth of July together. July 3rd we met and fell inlove, and became the greatest relationship ever. Hours and Hours on the phone, everynight. Webcams, phones, Im's. But, everyone was right.. Long distance doesn't work.

Anyways... We were amazing, but we only lasted a short time. I remember the breakup so vividly. I was high off of life, hanging out with my best friend, walking home, and as I passed the alleyway across the way from my alley, I got a phone call from my baby. I remember him talking to his buddy breifly, and then getting serious. He just explained to me that it wasn't working. He then asked, if I was alright, and with tears in my eyes, I replied yes. He told me if I needed to cry I could.

Oh I needed to cry alright. But I told him I didn't want him to have to hear it for, I didn't want him to feel bad. I told him I had to go...

My friend Devin was concerned.

I turned around, facing away from her, and cried, silent at first.

I tried to walk, i was so shaken, I couldn't walk, so I stumbled and fell. I sat against the wall, and Devin rushed over. I just started to scream. I couldn't breath, and I was screaming. Devin helped me up while I was still bawling, and she hugged me. I was so crushed. It felt as if he took a kife, rammed it into my heart, and then twisted the blade. After about an hour, I regained enough of my composure to get home..
As sooon as I was in my room, I began to cry again. I turned up my music and cried. After like... roughly 3 hours, Devin went home. I never stopped crying.

I did something I have never done before too.
I became numb. I was in such denial. It was so not over.

I couldn't even feel my heartbeat anymore, and pathetically, I cut myslef. I didn't want to die, I was making sure I was still alive.

He called me. I swear, I just sat there, with the phone muted, crying, screaming, not breathing. he was apologizing. Which broke my heart even more, causing me more pain.

This was the first guy, the first person I have ever felt love for, and he does this too mee? I would tell everyone exactly why he broke up with me, stupid reson, but I don't want to be mean. Why would anyone do this to me? My first real true heart break.. and it still haunts me. 6 MONTHS LATER! Why?

I have cried so many times, just at random, and if any of my friends even say his name, itnsta-cry. Little things remind me of him. Especially the song, It's Not Over- Second HandSerenade. I have listened to it atleast 100 times in the last couple hours. It's 3:46 in the morning.. I have officially been crying for 3 hours. Yay. what an accomplishment. Are you happy Cameron? Knowing that the fucking thought of you makes me cry. And when i do cry, I can't breath. I put myself through hell, for you. And what's even worse... I still love you.

I was dating this guy, and he was great. He was everything that i thought i ever needed. We fell in love, and we made so many plans that all sounded so great at the time. We had kind of a long distance thing going on, because he was two hours away. We didn't see eachother as much as i would have liked too. I want to be able to be with my boyfriend, and kiss him, and hug him, not just talk to him over the phone. Ya know? So i told him that. He asked me what i wanted to do, and i said i didnt know-when i clearly did. I wanted to break up until we could see eachother more often. As you can imagine, this was very hard for me to say. He was my world, and my everything. I loved him, and i guess i still do. but thats besides the point. He said he agreed, and it was the best for us. He promised we would talk everyday still, and he would always love me. I believed him. Which was dumb of me. Now, we bearly talk. It's like there's this empty space in me that just wont go away.. I miss him. Horribly. Things just arn't the same, and I wish they were. I probably brought it on myself, but.. he could have held up to what he said he would do.

So I've been with this guy for about a year and a half. We met over the internet and it was a long distance relationship, but we met up many times & every time was amazing. Our entire relationship was great (aside from the distance of course) We never fought, we talked all day every day, he was like my best friend. I'd never been so happy with someone. The only issue in our relationship was his ex-wife. She was very manipulative of him, using him for money and constantly trying to break us up. Well last week, out of no where he sends me a text saying that she had stayed the night with him b/c her electricity had been cut off. Of course I was not happy about it and was pretty upset, but he assured me that nothing happened and that he was going to take her that day to get her electricity back on and take her home. I asked him to call me as soon as he got her out of there and took care of everything. That was the last time I spoke to him (exactly a week ago) He didn't answer any of my texts or when I called later that day. And 2 days later, he had his phone disconnected...He sent me an email after that basically saying "I'm deleting your from everything. Please respect me and never contact me again" (ha yeah, respect him when he's so obviously not respected me) I really can't believe all of this is happening. We went from everything being perfect to total strangers in one day. It's obvious to me that he must be back with her or else I don't see why he'd just cut off all contact with me. It really hurts b/c I just don't understand how someone can be so close to you, and say they love you and want to spend their life with, but then turn their back on you. I feel like I've been thrown away. :(

me and my girl were together since high school. she played volleyball and soccer. i played football and baseball. we were homecoming king and queen. to all the guys that read this i know it sounds gay but its true. we were completely in love and whatever. then i had to go serve in the army. i had no choice, its a family tradition. we first broke up because long distance does not really work, but we wrote a lot and thought we should at least try to stay together. she said she did not want to have anyone else.. at the time.. then i found out from my best friend, kyle, that she was hooking up and having orgies almost every night. that did not sound like her so i asked her in my next letter. found out it was true.. so fucking pissed. i guess since i was gone she changed and missed me so much or something and had to be with other people.. which i think is bullshit. i came back to new york and hooked up with her best friend to get back at her. i ended up actually liking the best friend because i hooked up with her we talked. we went to Starbucks. then my original girl wanted me back. fuck that. me and her best friend are engaged right now. so yeah.. thats my fucked up life..

So, I lived in the USA for a year and got a boyfriend. We dated for approx. 8 months before I had to leave. We went in to a long distance realtionship which was hard but it worked. Now 8 months into it, and 4 moths before I come back, he decides to end it. I was heartbroken. Now after a week of silence he e-mails me and asks: did we use condoms when whe had sex"!? He also said "he was just thinking about it the other night." This all happened after he said he didn't have any feelings for me anymore, he even said he didn't want me to come back and now he's randomly e-mailing me! What is this supposed to mean? Does he regret breaking up, or just trying to make it harder for me to get over him?

So I was with this nice young christian girl for nearly 2 years in total. First few months were fine, we got along really well and quickly got pretty serious. Then I had to go back to uni (my final year), but it was only an hour down the road so it hardly counted as long distance. We kept it going for that year, then had an amazing summer once I'd graduated.

Then she went off to the same uni that I'd just graduated from, so since it was still only an hour down the road, we figured we'd done that distance before so we could do it again.

A couple of months in, I get a call from her in tears saying she'd got really drunk and made out with one of her close friends up there. I liked her a lot and she was clearly quite cut up about this, so I said we'd work past it. I asked my best friend (who was still at that uni on a four year course) what I should do. He gave some good advice and I ended up speaking softly to her friend asking him not to make her choose between us because he'd lose and their friendship was special. My best mate also said he'd look after her from that point.

A couple of months later I find out that both of those two guys had basically been taking turns with my girlfriend for ages behind my back!!

The lesson here is that long distance is hard, and rarely works out. And that sweet innocent christian girls usually ain't!

Dated this girl for a year and a half and lived with her for a year before it became a long distance relationship. I became suspicious that she was cheating on me. She was, and everyone lied to me about it. Before I knew for sure, she broke up with me saying she couldn't be in a long distance relationship. Then I find out she was dating my best friend who lived where I did. Then I find out she had cheated on me several times. Then a few months later I find out the bitch gave me herpes. Worst breakup ever.
